Why are Nose and Ears of aged people long?

As we know, the human body is made up of billions of cells. Cells are the building block of our bodies. As the age of a person increases, the no. of cells also increases. The growth of organs of our body is due to increases in the number of cells in that organ. Normally, a male stops growing at 20 & a female stops at 18. At that age, our body organs stop growing except 2 organs: ears and nose.

Our ears and nose are made up of Cartilage. Cartilage is a structural component of the ear and also the nose.

As our age increases, the cartilage starts breaking. When cartilage is broken, the nose and ears don’t get much support. The gravity then pulls the nose and ears at a rate of 0.22 mm per year. Thus, aged people have a long nose and ears as compared to adult people.
