Current President of US Joseph R. Biden has announced US to have sanction on Myanmar Leaders. This Executive order will focus on military leaders, their family members and businesses linked to them. Steps are also being taken to block access by the military to $1bn (£720m) of government funds held in the US. This will help out in the ongoing coup happening in Myanmar.
Mr Biden has called for the coup to be reversed and for the release of civilian leaders including Ms Suu Kyi.
The military of Myanmar had seized control and started a coup on first of February following a general election which the NLD won by a landslide. The armed forces had backed the opposition, who were demanding a rerun of the vote, claiming widespread fraud.
