Why EV Charging Station is necessary in Nepal?
Electric vehicle charging stations are where the battery based Electric vehicles are plugged in for charging. Electric vehicles are generally categorized into two classes: All Electric Vehicle (AEV) and Plug-in Hybrid Electric vehicle (PHEV). the later one combines electricity with the internal combustion (IC) engines, whereas the former one only uses electricity as a source of energy input. the battery electric vehicle is a type of AEV that uses battery as the source of energy. The battery needs to be charged in order to be energized. For this purpose, charging stations are to be constructed.
Electric vehicle charging stations can be simply home-based or it may be commercial one. There are only a handful of commercial electric vehicle charging stations in Nepal until now; and this might be the cause of the kind of a problem, if not the impediment for the owner of electric vehicle. That’s why, to augment the market of Electric vehicles in Nepal, it needs to infuse its main cities with the electric vehicle charging stations. Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has planned to install total of 50 Charging stations all over Nepal. As per NEA, it has planned to establish the EV charging stations every 100 to 200 kilometers along the highways.
