A Seventeen years old girl in Saptari, who was a rape victim committed suicide the next day she was sexually assaulted, reportedly from the frustration as the community leaders including villagers warned her not to file a case against the rapist
As per the victim’s mother, her daughter was depressed as the leaders in the community barred her from reaching the police to file a complaint against the suspects.
SP Rajendra Dhamala, the District Police Office Chief, says the police were informed of the incident only after the demise of the girl. Afterwards, they have initiated an investigation on the case.
